Community Notice: Be Aware of Potential Scam Activity

We have been informed of a potential scam impacting members of the community, including activity on social media and phone calls that may appear to come from a local healthcare provider.

Scammers may attempt to make calls that appear to come from a hospital phone number or reference Medicare-related services. These calls are not from Bridger Valley Medical Group. We will never request Medicare numbers, Social Security numbers, or payment information over the phone.

To help protect yourself, please keep the following in mind:

• If someone asks for your Social Security number, date of birth, address, credit card number, or other sensitive information via email, social media, or phone, it may be a scam.
• Be cautious of offers for “free” services or equipment in exchange for your insurance or Medicare information.
• Avoid sharing personal or health information publicly online. While your information is protected under HIPAA when held by your healthcare provider or insurer, that protection does not apply once it is shared elsewhere.

If you receive a suspicious call or message, do not engage. Hang up or ignore the message and contact Evanston Regional Hospital directly using the phone number listed on our official website.
